Stray Current Info

IMPORTANT!!!! READ THIS
Your warranty does not cover stray current under any circumstances.
Read this to avoid problems.
Stray Current Corrosion is caused by a bad earth in the vehicle
To check for stray current you will need a voltmeter ...I recommend an analogue type
1. Remove all coolant and flush system making sure there is no reside coolant
Most coolants are electrolytes and hold a charge like a battery this can make it difficult when trying to fault find
2. Fill the cooling system with water only
3. Place voltmeter probe in water via the radiator filler neck earth the volt meter to your to battery
4. Start the vehicle and turn on all electrics (lights, radio, wipers ect.
5. Check the volt meter if it is showing voltage in the water turn each electrical item off one at a time checking the volt meter each time when the voltage drops you have found the fault
6. Clean the connection and recheck
Most faults occur after the car is painted and the earths were badly cleaned or when a new accessory has been installed (driving lights radio ect.)
Aluminium radiators require a Glycol based inhibitor that meets the Australian Standard AS2108.
Aussie Desert Cooler recommends GMH inhibitor to suit VE (AC Delco Red Coolant).
ALSO:
Do not attach fans or oil coolers or anything else through the radiator core. This will void your warranty.
